Kentucky Dental Hygiene Laser Certification

This 16 hour KYBD approved Laser Certification course includes specific laser education, examination, and hands-on laser simulation training that is required by the KYBD to use a laser in Kentucky. In addition, you will receive 4 hours hands on training in the latest in microbiological testing with the Intro to Oral Systemic Practice course.

In this Laser Course you will:

  • Understand the nature of laser physics and safety

  • Discuss the use for lasers in dentistry and dental hygiene

  • Review case studies demonstrating the use of lasers

  • Recognize laser care, delivery, and set up

  • Discuss a typical laser appointment and fee scheduling

  • Recognize keywords and phrases to use with patients and others involved in laser dentistry

  • Participate in a mock exam to prepare participants for the online Standard Proficiency Exam of the Academy of Laser Dentistry

  • Take the standard Laser Proficiency exam for Dental Hygienists in Kentucky.

In the Oral-Systemic Course you will:

  • Learn the latest theory of biofilm maintenance and periodontal pathogens

  • Be introduced to chair-side video phase contrast microscopy

  • Prepare slides for examination

  • Prepare biofilm DNA tests

  • Interpret biofilm DNA test results

  • Learn scripts and techniques to engage in wellness conversations

This class will be held at the beautiful Darley Inn overlooking one of the most magnificent horse farms in Kentucky. Class size is limited to 8 to maximize the learning environment.
